This is my first debut for 2013 and I was pleasantly surprised! Kasie West gave her readers a fun, intriguing novel that will leave you anxious for more.
When Addie's parents announce that they are getting divorced and that it's up to her who she wants to live with, Addie uses her ability to help make the decision.
She "searches" her both paths of her future to find out just what will happen. Each path brings a boy into her life, but one is a bit more than she can handle. Is searching the way too much for Addie, or will it give her the answer she needs.
I wasn't entirely sure at first how this was going to go, but I really liked how Kasie set up the story. We got to see both path's that Addie could have chosen and followed her journey with alternating chapters. It sounds confusing, but both were so clearly distinct that I had no trouble keeping up. And with the little bit of mystery introduced there's definitely enough to keep you reading.
One of the clear distinctions was the "Compound" where Addie grew up and could have potentially stayed, as opposed to the outside world with the "Norms". Everyone in the Compound had different abilities and I really enjoyed learning how they worked and their limitations. It was a completely different environment from the outside world and what Addie had to face out there.
But my favorite part of the story was Addison's relationship with the two different guys she meets, Duke and Trevor. They both seem like great guys and offer something different for her, but you know pretty clearly which one is the guy for her. I don't want to give it away, but he had me swooning a few times myself.
Now I'm intrigued to find out just what's going to happen in the sequel and if a certain boy will end up back in it... One can only hope.
