First of all, I want to thank HarperTeen for sending me an advanced copy to review!
Die For Me is Amy Plum's debut novel and I'm so glad that I got th chance to read it! It's the first of a trilogy and I was pretty surprised at how captivated I became while reading it.
Kate Mercier moves with her sister Georgia, to Paris after their parents die tragically. Both sisters deal with the loss in different ways; Georgia goes out to parties and clubs every night, Kate stays at home with her nose in a book. All she wants is her normal life back.
But when Kate meets the beauitful, French Vincent Delacroix, she finds herself immersed in a world she never could have imagined. He and his friends are revenants, beings that are fated to die and return, over and over. And even though she finds herself falling for him, Kate has to decide if she can risk going down that road.
I wasn't entirely sure when I first started reading this if I was going to like it, but as I continued I found it nearly impossible to put down. The characters are fascinating and I loved getting to learn a little bit about each of them. I also loved that the revenants were also able to make jokes about themselves, lightening things up when things got to tense.
Kate and Vincent had a very sweet relationship, their connection stronger than I think even they realized. I loved the moments that they had together.
Amy's mytholgy for the revenants was new and fresh, a different idea for the world of paranormals and I am most definitely looking forward to what else she has in store for these characters.
