Defy
Defy 1
Author: Sara B. Larson
Pages: 336 pgs
Genre: YA, Fantasy
Release Date: January 7th 2014
A lush and gorgeously written debut, packed with action, intrigue, and heart-racing romance.
Alexa Hollen is a fighter. Forced to disguise herself as a boy and serve in the king's army, Alex uses her quick wit and fierce sword-fighting skills to earn a spot on the elite prince's guard. But when a powerful sorcerer sneaks into the palace in the dead of night, even Alex, who is virtually unbeatable, can't prevent him from abducting her, her fellow guard and friend Rylan, and Prince Damian, taking them through the treacherous wilds of the jungle and deep into enemy territory.
The longer Alex is held captive with both Rylan and the prince, the more she realizes that she is not the only one who has been keeping dangerous secrets. And suddenly, after her own secret is revealed, Alex finds herself confronted with two men vying for her heart: the safe and steady Rylan, who has always cared for her, and the dark, intriguing Damian. With hidden foes lurking around every corner, is Alex strong enough to save herself and the kingdom she's sworn to protect?
This was a fun debut for me to read. Not only had I been excited for it before it's release, but I also just loved the cover and the detail they were able to show of the dagger. Beautiful.
Since this was a high fantasy, I really enjoyed the fact that the main character was a girl, Alexa or Alex, who was a part of the prince's elite guard. Even though she was able to because she was pretending to be a boy, she still had the skill and fortitude to rise through the ranks and get to the position she had when the story started.
Yet she was still a girl, and I loved how Sara brought out and showed the struggles that Alexa had to deal throughout.
I also really loved the world that Sara created for this series. The land itself was rich and so different as they traveled, it felt like its own character. It felt like we only got a small taste of what else there was, and it left me wanting to know and explore more of this fascinating world.
And with book 2, Ignite, coming out soon I can't wait to delve back into this world!

Waiting on Wednesday: The Ruby Circle by Richelle Mead
Waiting on Wednesday is a meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, which spotlights upcoming releases we are eagerly anticipating.
(Coming February 2015)
Sydney
Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and
serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire
secrets—and human lives.
After their secret romance is exposed,
Sydney and Adrian find themselves facing the wrath of both the
Alchemists and the Moroi in this electrifying conclusion to Richelle
Mead’s New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series. When the life of
someone they both love is put on the line, Sydney risks everything to
hunt down a deadly former nemesis. Meanwhile, Adrian becomes enmeshed
in a puzzle that could hold the key to a shocking secret about spirit
magic, a secret that could shake the entire Moroi world.
Though I am beyond sad to see this series come to an end, I am completely excited for the final book in the Bloodlines series. Richelle has created such a fabulous world with first the Vampire Academy and now this one and I have loved the journey every step of the way.
Sydney is adorable and awkward, and my fondness for Adrian is all due to this series. I can only imagine what will be in store for us in this final book, but I do know that I want my hands on it as soon as possible. PLUS, I can't wait to learn what Richelle has coming next!
Oh the anticipation...
What are you waiting on?

Posts of the Future
Hi everyone!
First of all, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who either follows this blog regularly, or stops by for a visit. It means a lot and I can't thank you enough.
With that in mind, I wanted to put up a questions to you all about some weekly posts and features I was considering doing on here. I thought it would be fun to let you guys have some input and tell me some of the things you'd like to see.
For now, I have a few ideas of other things I could blog about on here besides reviews and certain memes like WoW and cover reveals. This would be things like:
I'm working on a few other ideas, but those are what I have now. Do you guys, my wonderful readers and friends, have any that you'd like to see on here? Please feel free to comment and let me know what you think.

For now, I have a few ideas of other things I could blog about on here besides reviews and certain memes like WoW and cover reveals. This would be things like:
- My writing progress (journey from writing to eventually querying an agent)
- Genre Favorites (probably as a monthly feature discussing genre's like sci-fi/fantasy, etc.)
- Author Features (highlighting more of their works, maybe interviews and giveaways)
I'm working on a few other ideas, but those are what I have now. Do you guys, my wonderful readers and friends, have any that you'd like to see on here? Please feel free to comment and let me know what you think.
